This CRSS report provides an historical overview of the evolution of the blasphemy laws in British India and the pre-partition political background behind it. It gives a detailed account of the blasphemy laws inherited by Pakistan and specifically highlights the blasphemy laws before and during the rule of General Zia-ul-Haq (July 1977-August 1988).
