Afghanistan Peace Support Mechanism II

Geographical Focus: Afghanistan and Pakistan

Period of Intervention: July 2021- May 2022

Partner: European Union and SIDA

Project Summary

Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) alongside its counterpart in Afghanistan, Organization of Economic Studies, and Peace (OESP) is implementing a project, Afghan Peace Support Mechanism funded by the EU.

The objective of this endeavor is to establish sustainable channels of Track II communication across Afghanistan and Pakistan that integrate the perspectives of a diverse group of actors, including women from the region, and encourage Pakistan’s constructive engagement in promoting stability and prosperity in Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the project aims to achieve the above stated impact by supporting a bilateral Afghanistan-Pakistan process that builds on a strong mapping of opportunities and spoilers in order to bring together influential actors across both countries. These actors work together to establish a channel of inclusive communication that clarifies perspectives and provides a platform from which to pursue advocacy with decision-makers in each country, leveraging a set of voices that can support positive regional engagements, thus resulting in regional stability and prosperity.

TESTIMONIALS

TOP STORIES

"For the past nine years, I have been living in Pakistan. Being part of different youth initiatives here has allowed me to witness the incredible warmth and hospitality of the Pakistani people, and how they empathize with young Afghans like me. The Pak-Afghan Youth Peace Initiative by CRSS has helped me realize my potential as a youth and refugee leader. I'm determined to spread the messages of peace and friendship that I am taking away from this fellowship."
