The PAJC groups held meeting with Mr. Haroon Rashid Sherzad, Senior Advisor to National Security Advisor (NSA), during the dialogue at Serena Hotel, Kabul.
The groups were briefed by Mr. Sherzad on the framework of APAPPS. Mr. Sherzad said, “after negotiations and long process, we have finally come to an agreement on APAPPS which was signed on May 14, 2018, under which five joint working groups have been formed. We are working on how to operationalize these working groups which is important for trust building, cooperation, and also for improvement of people to people contact. Once these working groups are operationalized, formal points are identified and the members are appointed, then we will use this mechanism to solve the pending issues and how to feed to improve critical issues; finding sustainable and appropriate solutions to these critical issues. The two governments’ ownership of APAPPS is very important for the process of peace and reconciliation.”
He told both the delegations that under APAPPS, the two groups, namely the military-to-military cooperation and the diplomatic-political dialogue, have already held meetings and hopefully next month, the refugees working group and the economic working group will be holding meetings.
